A series of posters for clothing company C&M have been removed by Advertising Standards Authorities which they claim could mislead the public. The posters feature what appears to be a child bound and gagged and locked in a windowless cellar. Representatives for agency Rhubarb & Chancer who work on the C&M account said; “The images are supposed to reflect the ironic lifestyles of the young people we target and if you look closely at the photographs just beyond the bloodstained rusty surgical knives and hacksaw you can clearly see the new range C&M t-shit. We can’t see what the problem is - it’s kind of cool, no?” The ASA said in it’s response ‘Consumers may believe that if they buy C&M’s products they might be abducted, yet there is no statistical or research evidence to support this..’ Head of Marketing for C&M refused to comment, he just sat in the corner rocking and weeping and repeating; “Oh gentle Jesus what have I done..”
